The Cós Blanc confetti rain returns to Salou

The coastal town of Salou, the tourism capital of Costa Daurada, is once again organising one of the most striking and fun events of the year, which brings together thousands of people in the same place: the Cós Blanc. It consists of a massive parade of floats, which takes place under a huge rain of confetti that floods the streets of the town with colour.

If you’ve never lived this magnificent festival, we suggest you don’t miss it this year, as it comes with new features. Get to Salou, in a comfortable way, thanks to the low-cost and sustainable private transfer services offered by Shuttle2Sun, from Barcelona airport, Barcelona port and Camp de Tarragona AVE train station.

What is the Cós Blanc?

The Cós Blanc of Salou is a unique festival that takes place on the first Saturday of February. Every year, more and more people join in the celebration, either by participating in the procession or by enjoying the parade as spectators.

The streets are prepared, a few days before, by installing numerous cannons all over the streets, on both sides of the pavements. In one afternoon, these cannons will shoot tons of colourful confetti, simulating an incredible rain full of life. In addition, the cannons have different designs of marine elements, such as mermaids and dolphins, reminiscent of summer days in this town.

This huge confetti shower is complemented by a continuous light and music show that turns the event into a super outdoor party, and totally takes the chill off.

The origin of this celebration is somewhat ambiguous. The festival, as we know it today, dates to the 1980s, when a festival committee decided to organise this event for the first time. But it is also said that, on one occasion, a group of friends went out into the street to throw pieces of paper at each other. This initiative took root in the town and ended up becoming one of the most eagerly awaited events of the year
