Almost 50 years of festival

The Cambrils International Music Festival began in the 1970s, with the aim of enriching the region’s cultural offerings and attracting both tourists and residents. Initially, the festival had a modest programme of performances, including, over the years, a wider variety of musical genres, responding to global musical trends.

As the festival grew, so did its prestige, attracting internationally renowned artists and an increasingly diverse audience. This inclusive approach has allowed the festival to become a meeting point for lovers of classical music, pop, rock, jazz and other genres, offering a varied and high quality programme.

49th edition, a very diverse programme

The 49th edition of the Cambrils International Music Festival has a programme, from the 1st to the 10th of August, that stands out for its diversity and artistic quality

The opening of the festival will be on the 1st of August, in the Port of Cambrils, with the participation of the Balkan Paradise Orchestra, a female group of Balkan music, made up of 10 wind and percussion instrumentalists, known for their boundless energy and their ability to combine traditional rhythms with a contemporary touch. This opening concert promises to be an explosion of vitality to start the festival with a bang.

The second to perform will be Suasi, on the 2nd of August, in Plaça del Pòsit, with his show ‘Som peces d’antiquari’, offering an intimate and nostalgic experience. And on the 3rd of August, it will be the turn of La Prenda Roja, a group formed by three women, which stands out for its fusion of musical styles ranging from rock to flamenco, through latin music, and that will surprise us in the Parc del Nou Cambrils.

The Cuban pianist Pepe Rivero, along with the singer Ángela Cervantes, will offer a most interesting performance, with a mixture of jazz, latin rhythms and classical music. They will be performing on the 4th of August, in the Torre del Llimó. This same enclave will also be the stage, on the 5th of August, for Barencia, a group formed by Xavi Torres, Bernardo Guerra and Michaelangelo Scandroglio, who will present a dance show with touches of flamenco and jazz.

Las Karamba, with their show ‘Te lo digo cantando’, will fill the Parc del Pescador on the 6th of August with their unique blend of salsa, reggae and other Caribbean rhythms, promoting messages of empowerment and joy through their music. At the same venue on the following day, 7th of August, we will find Andrea Motis, one of the young promises of Spanish jazz. In Cambrils, she will present her new work ‘Temblor’, where she explores new sounds and shows her evolution as an artist. Her performance promises to be a delight for jazz and music lovers in general.
