In March, Associació d’Hostaleria, Turisme i Restauració de Girona organises Girona Gastronomy Week, with the aim of promoting local cuisine and showcasing the creativity of Girona’s chefs to all visitors. During this week, local restaurants present special menus, allowing diners to explore a variety of dishes and discover new flavours.

In the same month, Girona hosts the Fòrum Gastronòmic, one of the most important culinary events in Spain. This forum brings together renowned chefs, producers and food lovers to share knowledge, trends and culinary techniques.

The programme includes cooking demonstrations, workshops and conferences, as well as a fair where visitors can sample gourmet products.

Another must-see event on the calendar, this time in May, is Temps de Flors, mainly known as a flower festival, but also with a wide range of culinary offerings.

In addition to the events in Girona, the province of Girona and Costa Brava offer a wide variety of culinary events not to be missed.

These include the Cuina del Cim i Tomba in Tossa de Mar. This gastronomic event celebrates one of the region’s most emblematic dishes. The “Cim i Tomba” is a traditional recipe of the local fishermen, which has become a symbol of the cuisine of Tossa de Mar.

This dish, based on fresh fish and potatoes, is cooked in an earthenware casserole with a sauce of onion, garlic and tomato, and flavoured with paprika and olive oil. During the event, which is usually held in the summer months, several restaurants in Tossa de Mar offer special menus highlighting this traditional dish.

Another highlight is the Feria del Embutido (Cold Meat Fair) held in the village of Bescanó, 20 minutes from Girona. It has been held every year since 1996 in March. The aim of the fair is to promote the direct sale of local artisan food products, specifically cold meat.
