Costa Dorada is full of spectacular tourist destinations that stand out, especially, for their calm and crystalline beaches, bathed by the Mediterranean Sea. Some of the towns that stand out are Cambrils, Salou, Vila-seca La Pineda, Tarragona, Altafulla and Hospitalet de l’Infant, among many others. In addition to sun and beach tourism, these towns have a wide range of tourist attractions, among which their gastronomy stands out.
Their proximity to the sea allows them to offer zero-kilometre products, obtained directly from their ports, without intermediaries. This becomes an added value in their Mediterranean cuisine, adding a plus to the final dish. In this publication, we are going to tell you about the town of Cambrils, one of the great gastronomic references in the area.

Cambrils, gastronomic capital
Increasingly, the destinations on Costa Daurada are competing for the title of gastronomic capital. However, Cambrils is currently the one that has consolidated it as part of its tourist offer, a great gastronomic reference point on Costa Daurada and also in Catalonia. This sector of its economy continually strives to renew itself and create dishes that combine tradition and innovation to perfection to surprise diners, day after day.
With the support of Cooperativa Agrícola, Confraria de Pescadors, Associació d’Empresaris de l’Hostaleria and Escola d’Hosteleria i Turisme de Cambrils, the town has managed to join forces and create an ideal synergy to offer a final product of quality and proximity. Thanks to this collaboration, they have managed to create a gastronomic calendar full of culinary proposals that are adapted to each season of the year and that is renewed in each edition.
Gastronomic calendar
The 2024 calendar includes up to 15 events, made up of various gastronomic days and fairs that will delight the people of Cambrils and the surrounding area, as well as lovers of quality food, from all over the territory. It also includes different promotional actions, such as, for example, its participation in the “Taste of Dublin” fair, an ideal place to consolidate the town as a gastronomic capital.
The first action at the top of this year’s calendar was the Galera and Seafood Days in February. As its title indicates, this initiative puts on the plates of diners one of the star products of the municipality, this crustacean with an excellent flavour, which can be found in many creations, among which the seafoodpaella stands out.
In March, the “Encarxofa’t“ days are held, one of the events in which restaurants dedicate their menus to this vegetable, the artichoke, which is very present in the Mediterranean diet. You can taste it in all sorts of ways, from gratin, stuffed and even tempura.
In mid-May, we can taste one of the most characteristic sauces of the Catalan culture, Romesco sauce, very present in the calçotades (Lunch where you eat this type of onion) that take place in the first months of the year. It can be found cooked in many ways, such as in rice dishes, fish, creams, salads, stews and much more. As part of this day, the new Romesco Food&Drinks event will be held, a Romesco Masters competition, and the craft beer fair, another novelty this year.
Following these, the traditional tapas route ‘Gastrotour‘ will be resumed, a consolidated event on Costa Dorada, an initiative also promoted in other municipalities in the area.

One of the most important events on the calendar is the Cambrils Wine and Gastronomy Festival, which is held after the summer in Parc del Pescador in Cambrils. You can enjoy a wonderful experience, thanks to the participation of more than twenty wineries and restaurants, which will offer the perfect pairing. During the days of the fair, there are wine tastings, musical performances, showcookings and family activities, so that everyone can enjoy this great event.
At the end of October, the New Extra Virgin Olive Oil Gastronomic Days take place, with a wide variety of tastings in the participating restaurants. There are also workshops and cultural performances for the whole family.
The last activity that will close the calendar 2024 will be ‘Cambrils amb gust de mar’, where the dishes will feature the canana, white shrimp and anchovies, three fish very present in Cambrils restaurants.
