The Bunkers of Carmel  

The first stop is for you to get to know Barcelona as a whole, with a magnificent panoramic view of the city from the Bunkers del Carmel. This is a great viewpoint, located at the top of Turó de la Rovira, which is 262 metres high.   

During the Civil War, this place was an anti-aircraft battery to protect the city from the Italian fascist air force, until, later, a neighbourhood of barracks was established.   

Sagrada Familia

Another of Barcelona’s landmarks is Sagrada Familia, one of the most important basilicas in the world, the work of Antoni Gaudí, begun at the end of the 19th century, and currently still under construction.

The Kiss mural

If you are a romantic person, you cannot miss the Kiss mural, located in the centre of the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona, more specifically, in the Isidre Nonell square, in front of Cathedral of Barcelona. Its official name is ‘The world begins with every kiss’, and it is the work of photographer Joan Fontcuberta, together with ceramist Antoni Cumella. This large-scale mosaic is made up of 4,000 small images printed on tiles, taken by anonymous citizens showing their moments of freedom.   

The waterfall in Parc de la Ciutadella

One of the most authentic places in Barcelona is the waterfall in Parc de la Ciutadella, with the figure of Venus in the centre, which you can see either from a boat in the middle of the lake or by go upstairs that make up the monument. This fountain unites nature and sculpture, composing a unique and romantic scene, as a result of the work of the architect Josep Fontseré

Park Güell

Mossèn Costa i Llobera Gardens

Another of Barcelona’s most original gardens are those of Mossèn Costa i Llobera, located on Montjuïc mountain and specialising in cacti and succulents. It is worth noting that, in 1987, they were considered by the New York Times as one of the ten best gardens in the world.    

Bisbe Street Bridge

Hidden in the heart of Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter is the Bisbe Street Bridge, which connects the Palau de la Generalitat with the Cases dels Canonges. Despite its old style, it was built in 1928 by the architect Joan Rubió i Bellver. According to legend, if you cross the bridge with your back turned, looking at the skull at the bottom, you will be granted a wish.
