Celebrate the Grandparents’ Day, with 6 different proposals

The Grandparents’ Day is celebrated every year on 26th July, with the aim of highlighting these figures within the family. This is why we present you a series of activities that you can do in Catalonia, with which you can enjoy this magnificent day with your loved ones.

With Shuttle2Sun‘s economic and sustainable shared transfer services and private transfer services, you will be able to move to any location from Barcelona airport, Barcelona port, Reus airport, Girona airport, and even from the AVE Camp de Tarragona train station

This great day is a good opportunity to recognise their affection, care, advice and unconditional support for their grandchildren, thus playing a fundamental role for the whole family. In addition, our grandparents provide us with wisdom and a much more experienced vision of life, enriching our daily lives and helping us in the most important decisions we must make.

That is why this 26 July is an ideal time to share with them, with many different options, such as going out to eat at a restaurant; enjoying the outdoors, walking through parks and natural spaces; listening to their experiences; among many others.

If you are thinking of doing something different on the Costa Dorada, Costa Brava or Barcelona, we bring you a list of how to celebrate the Grandparents’ Day, in a very original way.

PortAventura World

This spectacular theme park, located in Vilaseca, just 20 minutes from the Camp de Tarragona AVE train station, is a great option to enjoy the whole day with your grandparents and, in general, with your whole family. The park has a host of thrilling attractions adapted to all ages, live shows and themed areas for the whole family.

It should be noted that PortAventura World also has a water park, known as PortAventura Caribe Aquatic Park, where you can cool off with its water slides and rides, an ideal option for this summer. You can also spend the day in its Ferrari Land park and feel all the adrenaline of Formula 1.

Grandparents' Day

Aquopolis

In La Pineda, very close to Salou and just 18 minutes from Reus airport, you will find the Aquopolis water park, with a wide range of slides, swimming pools and water games areas, as well as dolphin and sea lion shows.

Beaches and coves

Strolling along the golden sand, listening to the sound of the sea waves, enjoying the sunshine and the Mediterranean climate, and practising water activities, are just some of the many activities you can do on the beaches of the Costa Dorada. In addition, the coastal towns also have a wide range of coves, where you can immerse yourself in the most unknown corners of our coastline.

Strolling through nature

The Camino de Ronda is a very popular trail because of its breathtaking views, from dawn to dusk, which will allow you to discover all the secrets of the Costa Brava coastline and get to know a unique part of this area.

Some of the routes you can follow are the Camino de Ronda from S’Agaró to Platja d’Aro, the Camino de Ronda from Calella de Palafrugell to Llafranc, or the Camino de Ronda from Tossa de Mar. Moreover, if you want to continue enjoying this area of the Mediterranean coast, you can visit nearby towns such as Blanes, Lloret de Mar or Sant Feliu de Guíxols, thanks to the direct connection with Girona airport

You can also go on cycling routes along the Costa Dorada, the Costa Brava and Barcelona, either by the beach or through the towns, renting bicycles and going on various family outings.

Grandparents' Day Catalonia

Culture and history

Catalonia is full of cities and towns brimming with historical, architectural and cultural heritage, among which Tarragona and Barcelona stand out. On the one hand, the city of Tarragona will allow you to discover Roman architecture, through the Roman Amphitheatre and the Roman Circus, which are just a few metres away from each other. You can also visit the National Archaeological Museum.

Barcelona, the European capital, is the great historical attraction of Catalonia, as well as being, par excellence, the city most visited by tourists arriving in the territory. Particularly noteworthy is the Sagrada Familia, the best-known work of Antonio Gaudí, an artist who has left an impressive mark on the city of Barcelona. By the same artist, don’t forget to visit Park Güell; Casa Milà, also known as La Pedrera; and Casa Batlló.

In Barcelona you can also do other activities, such as having fun at Tibidabo, visiting the CosmoCaixa science museum, or the Barcelona Aquarium, among others.

If you plan to arrive in the city via Barcelona airport or the port of Barcelona, you can get to the city in just 20 minutes.

Gastronomic reference point

Catalonia also stands out as a gastronomic reference point, offering you and your whole family the chance to discover the tradition and innovation of wineries and restaurants from all over Catalonia, with more than 50 Michelin-starred kitchens.

Exquisite tastings, Mediterranean cuisine, local products of excellent quality, and a wide range of designations of origin (DO) for wines and protected designations of origin (PDO) for olive oil are some of the qualities that you can find in the restaurants in the towns you visit.

You can make all these plans with Shuttle2Sun, a company that takes you to the location of your choice, economically and sustainably, with its shared transfer services and private transfer services, from Barcelona airport, Barcelona port, Reus airport, Girona airport and the AVE Camp de Tarragona train station
