Casa Batlló in Barcelona

Casa Batlló of Barcelona is one of the most important buildings and works designed by Antoni Gaudí, and it is located in Passeig de Gràcia. Do you want to visit this characteristic and well-known building? Travel to Barcelona now! Book your transfer from Barcelona airport or Reus airport to your hotel or apartment in Barcelona.

We can assure you that this modernist building is very original and will impress you during your visit, and even more if you visit it from the inside, as Gaudí loved to pay attention to details, such as the variation in the size of the windows depending on their height, all to have a uniform distribution of light in all the rooms of the house. The whole house was designed by Gaudí, who also chose the furniture and all the decoration. The building has a 50m² central courtyard decorated with blue and white ceramics to resemble an underwater cave.

The façade of Casa Batlló in Barcelona can be divided into three parts. The upper part is similar to the back of a dragon, with its scales and a needle tower that we can interpret as the spear of Sant Jordi when he killed the beast (in reference to the famous Catalan legend of Sant Jordi). Then we have the central part, which is inspired by the Mediterranean Sea, with a cover of fragments of glass and ceramics. Finally, we find the lower part, formed by five large windows that are supported by eight bone-shaped columns, reminiscent of an open mouth, which is why many people know it as the House of Yawning.
